About The Artist

Mary began painting in oil at an early age motivated by her family. Growing up in California, she found inspiration in the variety of landscapes near her hometown of Yorba Linda and through the guidance of educators. In 1996, Mary moved to Tucson, Arizona to attend the University of Arizona and studied under acclaimed artists Bailey Doogan and Bart Morse. Here, Mary developed her understanding of the art fundamentals and their important role in becoming a successful representational artist. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Classics with a minor in Studio Art and continues to apply her knowledge to her current works.

Mary serves as Membership Director of the Sonoran Plein Air Painters in Tucson, Arizona. She currently lives in Corona De Tucson with her husband and two children. She enjoys painting en plein air and finds endless inspiration in the landscape of the Sonoran Desert.
